The Big Cat Sanctuary launches their Project Lion Campaign!

Our Project Lion Campaign is raising funds for a variety of lion welfare and conservation activities, which will conclude with moving the fabulous African Lion Kasanga who joined us in April. He will be going to a wonderful new home in the UWEC Conservancy in Uganda. Part of the funds raised will be used to cover the costs of this exciting move.

We are also working with The Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Kenya, raising money to sponsor GPS collars to put on members of their seven prides.  With the use of these collars, they are able to identify individuals when a pride is found. They do this by recording whisker patterns, scars, ear tears and other characteristics.  The data collected goes straight to the ecological monitoring department helping find solutions to the challenges facing Laikipia’s lions and the communities sharing their habitat, and in turn combatting human/wildlife conflict.

Enrichment and welfare improvements are also needed for our big African Lion brothers Tiny and Kafara.  A significant amount of the funds raised will be spent on giving them better access to roam their enclosures as well as additional landscaping enrichments so they can enjoy their surroundings and life at the Sanctuary.

We are aiming to raise a target of £40K by this year’s World Lion Day which is on 10 August!

You can support us by visiting our Just Giving campaign page or text LION40 £10 or  LION40 £5 to 70070 to donate.

A big thank you in advance for your contribution, which will greatly assist us in achieving our conservation goal.
