Set in Smarden at the heart of the Kent countryside, The Big Cat Sanctuary is a globally recognised centre dedicated to the conservation and rescue of wild cats. The initiatives undertaken by the team at The Sanctuary are vital in saving some of the planet’s most endangered and iconic species from extinction.
The Sanctuary is proud to contribute to accredited global breeding programs, collaborate with conservation partners to improve animal welfare worldwide, and undertaking life-changing rescue operations, including rescuing five lions from war-torn Ukraine between 2024 and 2025. The centre offers unique experiences for visitors, including overnight stays, big cat encounters afternoon teas, photography workshops, ranger days, and educational tours.
Our objectives of Welfare, Breeding, Education, Conservation, and Rescue are at the heart of everything we do.
