Accessibility on site

At the Sanctuary, we try to be as accessibility friendly as possible and are always looking at ways to improve and develop this.

The pathways around the site are mostly accessible; however, some parts of the path are stoney and may be harder to navigate with a wheelchair. We are currently expanding our site with exciting new habitats, so some of the sandy pathways are new and taking time to set. Please bear with us during this time. If you need any assistance, please ask a member of staff who will be happy to help.

Please find our accessibility page HERE

Should you have any queries regarding accessibility whilst visiting the Sanctuary, please contact our customer services team, enquiries@thebigcatsanctuary.org

BSL information for THURSDAY

We have two BSL interpreters joining us for both Thursday morning and afternoon sessions. All mainstage talks will be interpreted, with these sessions clearly highlighted on the itineraries available on-site. Additionally, two designated keeper talks will feature BSL interpretation: the tiger talk in the morning and the jaguar talk in the afternoon. These will be at the cat habitats which you can find on your site map.

Kulture City:

The Big Cat Sanctuary has partnered with KultureCity® to enhance our ability to assist and accommodate guests with sensory needs. Our goal is to provide an inclusive experience for all guests during all events. We strive to raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with sensory processing needs by supplying our staff with annual training and by offering the resources and accommodations below to our guests.

KultureCity® Sensory bags containing special KCVIP badges, feeling thermometer, fidget tools, and noise-cancelling headphones are available for checkout (£10 refundable deposit) at our Heritage Lodge located at the front of the site. We have a limited number of these and they will be issued on a first-come first served basis.

Quiet areas and Headphone zones (loud areas) are located on-site and are signposted on the Open Day map.
