The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! All five lions from war-torn Ukraine have safely arrived at The Big Cat Sanctuary. After nearly a year of tireless effort and determination, we are incredibly proud to share that Rori, Amani, Lira, and Vanda have been reunited with Yuna and have all moved into their forever home; The Lion Rescue Centre.
All five of the lions have had a long journey to The Big Cat Sanctuary but with the help of all of the team, they are beginning their second chance at life here in Kent, where they can be safe, happy and secure.
Rescuing and moving the lions has been a heartfelt and rewarding achievement for the entire team here at The Big Cat Sanctuary. The team has spent the last year planning and building The Lions Rescue Centre, and couldn’t have done it without the constant support of the public who have followed the lions on their journey.
Rori, Amani, Lira, Vanda & Yuna have endured an unimaginable hardship, surviving in an active war zone in Kyiv, Ukraine. Watching them step into their new homes was incredibly exciting, and knowing they are now safe with Yuna here at The Sanctuary made it all worthwhile.
Rori, Amani, Lira & Vanda have all settled in remarkably well, but they are just starting their journey. We will be monitoring them closely in the coming weeks and we’ll be sharing more updates, including the unforgettable moment of their first steps into their brand-new habitat and the official opening of The Lion Rescue Centre in March.
