Not Everyone Gets a Valentine

Show Love Through Adoption

This Valentine’s week, we’re shining a spotlight on three incredible cats with the fewest adoptions at The Big Cat Sanctuary. While some of our residents are adopted quickly, others quietly wait in the background, and this week, we want to make sure they’re seen by you.

Meet Nuru, Samia and Django. They may not be the loudest or boldest, but they are all amazing ambassadors for their species, with personalities that are impossible not to love once you take a moment to get to know them. We’re inviting you to discover what makes each of them so special, and to show love where it’s needed most.

Meet Nuru

Nuru is a calm and thoughtful white lioness, with a gentle presence that’s impossible not to admire. While some cats in the pride are quick to take the spotlight, Nuru is often the quiet observer, watching, listening, and taking in everything around her.

She loves peaceful moments in her habitat, where she can settle in with her favourite enrichment, especially hessian sacks and the scent of cloves. It’s in these calm, content moments that her personality really shines: steady, curious, and quietly confident.

Nuru doesn’t ask for much, just comfort and a little bit of love. This Valentine’s week, she’s ready for someone to finally choose her.

Meet Samia

Samia the serval was born at The Big Cat Sanctuary, and she’s grown into a cat with a personality as bold as her impressive 3-metre leap. With her long legs, sharp focus and endless energy, she’s always on the move, always curious, and always doing things her way.

Agile and full of confidence, Samia is known for being wonderfully opinionated. She’s quick to let her keepers know exactly what she wants, and she has a strong sense of what she likes… and what she absolutely doesn’t.

And when it comes to food, Samia has one very clear rule: her favourite snack is whole quail, and it must be whole quail (no compromises). It’s a “non-negotiable” in Samia’s world, and honestly, we respect it.

Full of character, charm and sass in equal measure, Samia is truly one of a kind.

Meet Django

Django is a mainland clouded leopard with a heart of gold and a personality that wins people over instantly. With his striking markings and impressive long tail, he’s a truly beautiful cat, but it’s his gentle nature that makes him so special.

Django is well known for his soft, friendly chuffing and his unmistakable “quacking” sounds, a unique little vocalisation that has become part of his charm. He’s also often the first to greet his keepers, approaching with curiosity and confidence, always eager to see what’s happening and who’s nearby.

Affectionate in his own quiet way and full of character, Django is a big sweetheart who never fails to make an impression. This Valentine’s week, adopt Django and help support his care, while showing love to a cat who truly deserves it.
