We’ve reached 80% of our goal to rescue five lions from war-torn Ukraine!
We’re delighted to announce that so far we’ve raised an amazing £400,000 for our Big Cats in Crisis campaign, where we’ve been working tirelessly to rescue five African lions living in terrible conditions in war-torn Kyiv, Ukraine. This money is going directly to cover the costs of transporting them, their immediate care and rehabilitation, and construction of a state-of-the-art Lion Rescue Centre at The Big Cat Sanctuary.
Since launching the campaign on May 2nd, the outpouring of support from individuals and organizations has been incredible. With £500,000 as the target, we’re just £100,000 away from ensuring these lions have a safe and secure forever home here in Kent, UK.
The final three lions, Vanda, and two sisters, Amani and Lira, will soon be rescued, and construction on their future home is well underway. The Lion Rescue Centre will include a spacious 15m x 15m house with six dens and four outdoor habitats, representing the biggest project The Sanctuary has ever taken on.
