Celebrating 40 years of lion rescue, conservation, and family legacy.
On World Lion Day 2024, we celebrate a remarkable journey that began in 1984 with a lion named Bobby and founder Peter Sampson, and continues today with a lioness called Yuna and his grandson, Cam Whitnall, Managing Director of The Big Cat Sanctuary.
1984: Bobby the Lion: A New Beginning

In the early days of our work in ethical animal rescue, our founder, Peter Sampson, led the charge in moving a lion named Bobby from life in a barren 4×4 concrete cage at Broxbourne Zoo. Bobby had never felt grass under his paws or the sun on his back until Peter and his team gave him a second chance, building him a beautiful habitat in which he could run on grass for the first time at what was Paradise Wildlife Park, now Hertfordshire Zoo.
That rescue was more than a mission; it was the beginning of a lifelong commitment to wildlife welfare and the belief that every animal deserves dignity, space, and the chance to heal.
2024: Yuna the Lioness: History Repeats With Legacy

Now, 40 years later, Peter’s grandson, Cameron Whitnall, the Managing Director of The Big Cat Sanctuary, has followed in his grandfather’s footsteps. In the midst of conflict and chaos, Cameron and our dedicated team organised a rescue project called Big Cats in Crisis with the sole aim to rescue 5 lions from war-torn Ukraine. This is where a lioness named Yuna was living in almost identical conditions to Bobby, confined to a cold, barren 4×4 cell. Against the odds, Yuna was rescued, transported, and rehomed to The Big Cat Sanctuary, where, just like Bobby, she felt grass beneath her paws and freedom in the air for the first time.
One Family. One Mission. One Vision.
This isn’t just the story of two lions, it’s the story of a multi-generational promise to protect wildlife, no matter the distance or danger. It’s about the power of legacy, passion, and purpose. On World Lion Day, we recommit ourselves to that promise: To Bobby and Yuna, we will never stop fighting for wildlife. 🧡

The gestation period lasts for between 3 – 3.5 months.
What dangers do Bengal tigers face?
The biggest threats currently facing Bengal tigers are poaching and reduction of their habitat as a result of agriculture growth and expansion of human populations in surrounding areas. This reduction of habitats leads to an increase in human-tiger conflicts which leads to further risks to the tiger populations.
Why are Bengal tigers endangered?
It’s acknowledged that the biggest threats to the survival of the Bengal tiger is illegal poaching to harvest tiger fur and body parts to sell and destruction and/or shrinking of their natural habitats. With growing human populations nearby, this expansion of agriculture and roads often lead to a reduction in environments suitable for tigers. Overlapping human and tiger populations can also lead to conflict, which can result in hunting or retaliatory killings.
How can we help to save the Bengal tigers?
Supporting conservation efforts is something that we can all do to help the Bengal tiger population. It’s more important than ever that we help to protect this species and prevent a further population decline. By supporting conservation efforts with a donation you can also play a part in the protection of these animals.

What is a Sumatran tiger?
The Sumatran tiger is one of the remaining six subspecies of tiger and is native to the Indonesian island of Sumatra (hence the name!). They are a carnivorous mammal and have the distinct striped fur appearance commonly associated with tigers. They are solitary animals and only come together to mate.
What family do Sumatran tigers belong to?
Sumatran tigers belong to the Felidae family.
What does a Sumatran tiger look like?
The smallest and darkest of all tiger species, the Sumatran tiger tends to be more bearded and maned than other types of tiger. Although they have the distinctly tiger stripes across their body, their stripes are closer together than on other tigers, which helps them to camouflage easier into their surroundings.
What noise does the Sumatran tiger make?
As with other tiger species, the Sumatran tigers are known to make a noise informally called ‘chuffing’.
How big are Sumatran tigers?
They are the smallest of all tiger species. It’s thought that this might be as they evolved in a relatively isolated habitat. Males range in length between an average of 2.2m to 2.5m and weigh between 100 kg to 140kg. Females, often smaller than males, will measure around 2.15m to 2.3m in length and weigh between 75 kg to 110kg.
How fast can a Sumatran tiger run?
When running they can reach speeds of up to 40mph.
What do Sumatran tigers eat?
Sumatran tigers will often hunt deer and wild pigs, but they have also been known to be an ‘opportunistic predator’ meaning that they will hunt on what is available to them at the time. They hunt at night and will often make only one large kill per week.
What is a group of Sumatran tigers called?
A group of tigers is called a streak or an ambush.
How many cubs do Sumatran tigers have?
Litters of 2 to 3 cubs are the most average, however Sumatran tigers can have between 1 to 6 cubs per litter.
What is the Sumatran tiger’s natural habitat?
Sumatran tigers live in small populations across Sumatra. They live within various habitats, from mountain forests to coastal lowland forests. Many of the areas inhabited by these tigers are protected areas due to their dangerously low population. They prefer hill forests and lowlands but can occasionally be found within human-dominated areas and non-forest habitats.
How many Sumatran tigers are left in the wild?
Due to a declining population it is estimated that there are only 400 to 600 tigers remaining in the wild.
How long do Sumatran tigers live in the wild?
Sumatran tigers will, on average, live to between 12 to 15 years old.
How long do Sumatran tigers live in captivity?
Sumatran tigers can live longer in captivity than in the wild, reaching ages of up to 15 years old.
Does the Sumatran tiger have any predators?
They have no natural predators, however human conflict and interference pose a threat.
What dangers do Sumatran tigers face?
Conflicts with humans and illegal poaching pose a threat to the remaining Sumatran tiger population. Hunters target these tigers for fur and other body parts to sell. Aside from these threats, they are also at risk from habitat destruction, often a result of expansion of human-controlled areas including palm oil plantations.
Why are Sumatran tigers endangered?
Unfortunately Sumatran tigers are classified as a critically endangered species on the IUCN red list. This is largely due to the loss of habitat and a result of hunting.
How can we help to save the Sumatran tiger?
The biggest actions that we, as humans, can do to protect this species is conserve their remaining habitat. Preventing further habitat loss is vital to helping their population grow and prevent population numbers from declining. Donations to organisations that provide conservation initiatives is a great way to help these animals.

What is a tiger?
Tigers are the largest member of the big cat family and are known for their distinct appearance. They are carnivorous mammals and belong to the Panthera genus. In fact, tigers are one of the largest terrestrial mammals that have a meat-based diet.
Other members of the big cat family include lions, jaguars, snow leopards and cheetahs.
What family do tigers belong to?
Tigers belong to the Felidae family.
What does a tiger look like?
As one of the most recognisable animal species, tigers have a reddish-orange coat with black stripes. Fun fact: each tiger has a unique stripe pattern! They have sharp teeth and very strong jaws alongside an agile body which makes them an effective predator.
Why are tigers orange?
As tigers rely heavily on hunting their prey, and always have, this means that it’s important that they blend in. To us humans we can clearly see that tigers are orange, but to certain animals (including deer) they can’t distinguish between orange and green, and so the tiger is able to effectively blend into its environment. This helps them stalk, sneak up on and attack their prey.
Why do tigers have stripes?
A tiger’s stripes help them to blend into their surroundings. This is known as ‘disruptive coloration’ by biologists as the stripes allow the tiger to camouflage themselves in long grass or within the treeline.
What noise does a tiger make?
Tigers are known to roar and growl, however they also produce a noise known as a ‘chuff’.
How big are tigers?
The size of the tiger largely depends on which sub-species it is. Sumatran tigers, for example, are the smallest with males growing to 120kg in weight and eight feet in length from head to tail. Where as the Amur tiger (also known as the Siberian tiger) can weight up to 300kg and measure up to 10 feet in length!
Females are also often smaller than males. And the habitat is a factor in how large a tiger will grow to, with availability of prey and a healthy habitat supporting growth.
How fast can a tiger run?
A tiger can reach speeds of up to 35-40mph!
What do tigers eat?
A tiger’s diet depends largely on where in the world they are. Generally, most species of tiger will prefer larger mammals, often those with hooves such as pigs, deer, rhinos and (even) elephants. The diet will also vary between subspecies of tiger, for example the diet of the Malayan tiger includes wild boar, whereas the Bengal tiger that can be found in India or Nepal will feed on bison, deer, water buffalo or wild pig.
How strong are tigers?
In short, tigers are very strong! In fact, a tiger’s bite is measured at around 1,000 PSI – six times stronger than a human’s (162 PSI).
What is a group of tigers called?
A group of tigers is called an ambush or a streak.
What colour eyes do tigers have?
Tigers have yellow or ‘golden’ coloured eyes.
What countries do tigers live in?
Tigers once lived throughout much of Asia, however they now occupy only 7% of this area it is estimated. They can now be found in regions including Eastern Russia, South and Southeast Asia and China.
Wild tigers can be found in:
- Bangladesh
- India
- Nepal
- Bhutan
- Malaysia
- China
- Russia
- Thailand
- Cambodia
- Indonesia
- Vietnam
- Laos
- Myanmar
What are baby tigers called?
A baby tiger is called a cub.
How many cubs do tigers have?
On average, tigers will give birth to 2 – 4 cubs at a time and can do this every 2 years.
What is a tiger’s habitat?
This depends on the subspecies of tiger and there they live. Tigers as a whole can be found living in a wide variety of habitats including grasslands, swamps, rain forests and savannas.
Why do tigers have spots on their ears?
Tigers are known for their very distinct white spots on the back of their ears. You will likely have heard that it’s believed these are designed to function as ‘false eyes’ that will deter any potential predators from attacking from behind. However, it’s also thought that they have a part to play in aggressive communication as tigers may turn their eyes to face forward when threatened.
How many tigers are left in the wild?
It’s estimated that there are around 3,900 tigers left in the wild. This number has reduced by nearly 95% over the last 150 years.
How long do tigers live in the wild?
Tigers in the wild will usually live between 10 – 15 years, However this depends on the habitat they live in and the availability of prey.
Do tigers have any predators?
As apex predators, tigers don’t have any natural predators. However, they are at risk from human hunting and can be vulnerable to larger predators as cubs.
How long are tigers pregnant for?
The gestation period for a tiger can range between 93 – 114 days.
How do tigers learn to hunt?
As cubs tigers will begin to learn the tips and tricks of hunting from their mother. This will start from the age of between 8 – 10 months. By following their mother and learning from her behaviour the cubs will pick up the tricks of the hunt for use when living life as a solo adult tiger.
Did you know that tigers are such skilled hunters that they can even hunt in the water! This is because they are competent swimmers. They will tend to hunt just once a week but they can consume up to 75 lbs of food in one day.
What dangers do tigers face?
The main dangers facing tigers right now include poaching, hunting, loss of habitat and retaliatory killings. Unfortunately, as their habitat shrinks the tigers must compete to survive in a much smaller space than they historically had. This can, at times, lead to tigers competing with humans which is posing a threat to future tiger populations.
Why are tigers endangered?
Tigers have lost almost 96% of their number since the 1900 when populations were around 100,000. Now under 4,000 this puts the tiger at severe risk. In fact, the six subspecies of tiger are all on the endangered list:
- Bengal tiger: Endangered
- Siberian tiger: Endangered
- Indochinese tiger: Endangered
- Malayan tigers: Endangered
- Sumatran tiger: Critically endangered
- South China tiger: Critically endangered
One of the main causes of this endangerment is illegal poaching as poachers will hunt tigers for their fur and more to sell. Habitat loss and destruction of their natural environment also play a key role in the destruction of population numbers. The size of the available habitat has shrunk by 40% in the last decade alone.
How can we help to save tigers?
There are a number of great organisations that strive to help grow the tiger population across all subspecies. You can also play your part and help these amazing animals by supporting their conservation with these organizations and donating what you can comfortably afford to.

What is the Eurasian lynx?
The Eurasian lynx, scientifically known as Lynx lynx, is a medium-sized wild cat species native to the forests and mountainous regions of Eurasia. It is the largest lynx species and has a distinctive appearance with its tufted ears, ruff of fur around the face, and short tail with a black tip. This species, once on the brink of extinction throughout Europe, has managed to recover but still remains threatened in some areas.
Where does the Eurasian lynx live?
The Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) is primarily found in the forested regions of Eurasia. Its range extends across various countries in Europe and Asia. Here are some of the countries where the Eurasian lynx can be found:
- Europe: The Eurasian lynx has a significant presence in several European
- countries, including Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and Ukraine. It also occurs in some parts of Germany, Switzerland, France, and Spain.
- Asia: In Asia, the Eurasian lynx can be found in regions such as Russia (including Siberia), Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and China. It is worth noting that its distribution in Asia is more limited compared to its extensive presence in Europe.
What does the Eurasian lynx look like?
The Eurasian lynx is a medium-sized wild cat. They can measure up to 90-110 centimeters (35-43 inches) in body length and have a shoulder height of around 60-75 centimeters (24-30 inches). Males can weigh between 18-30 kilograms (40-66 pounds)
The lynx has a dense, thick coat that provides insulation in cold climates. The coloration of the fur can vary, but it typically consists of a mixture of gray to brown and marked with dark spots which provide camouflage in forest habitats
It has a prominent ruff of fur around the face, which resembles a beard. The ears are adorned with long, black tufts of hair, known as “ear tufts”. The tufts are not actual ears but rather tufts of hair on the tips of their ears. The lynx has a relatively short tail, usually measuring around 11-24 centimeters (4-9 inches) in length. The tail is tipped with black fur, which serves as a visual signal when communicating with other lynxes.
What family does the Eurasian lynx belong to?
The Eurasian lynx is a member of the Lynx lineage which falls under the Felidae family. It’s scientific name is Lynx Lynx.
What does the Eurasian lynx eat?
The Eurasian lynx is a strict carnivore, feeding mostly on hoofed mammals (ungulates) including deer. When their natural prey is scarce or difficult to find they will also eat smaller animals including rabbits, foxes and hares.
How long do Eurasian lynx live for?
In the wild they can live for up to 17 years, but in captivity they have been known to live for over 20 years.
How many Eurasian lynx are left in the wild?
There are approximately 50,000 Eurasian lynx left in the wild.
Is the Eurasian lynx endangered?
Although the Eurasian lynx has struggled with declining populations in the past they are currently classified as a least concern species on the IUCN red list. In fact, between 1930 and 1950 the population fell as low as around 700 in Europe! Since the ban on illegal fur trade the population has been able to grow.
This doesn’t mean that there aren’t any threats to the species. Hunting and habitat loss continue to pose a danger to the Eurasian lynx despite the stabilising of the population.
Do the Eurasian lynx have any predators?
The Eurasian lynx is a top predator in its ecosystem, and as such, it does not have many natural predators that pose a significant threat to its population. However, there are a few rare instances where the lynx may face predation or threats from other animals.
In some rare cases, larger predators such as brown bears and gray wolves may come into conflict with the Eurasian lynx. Interactions can occur over shared prey or territorial disputes. However, such encounters are infrequent, and the lynx is generally capable of avoiding or defending itself against these predators.
How many types of lynx are there?
There are four types of Lynx: the Canadian lynx, the Bobcat, the Iberian lynx and the Eurasian lynx.
What is the natural habitat of the Eurasian lynx?
The specific habitats where the Eurasian lynx thrives include boreal forests, taiga, mixed woodlands, and mountainous regions. These cats require a combination of dense cover for stalking and an adequate prey population to sustain their presence. As they have such a wide range the habitat will change between sub-populations. For some, the habitat can be a boreal forest, for others it could be a rocky-steppe or a mixed forest-steppe.

What is the Canadian lynx?
The Canadian lynx, or Canada lynx (or even Lynx canadensis) is a medium-sized cat that inhabits North America and is known for being particularly elusive, often choosing to evade human contact. Canadian lynxes are well adapted to cold environments and have several distinctive physical features. They have thick, dense fur, usually grayish-brown in color, which helps insulate them in the winter.
Where does the Canadian lynx live?
Canadian Lynx are primarily found in Canada, although its range also extends into parts of Alaska and the northern United States, including the Rocky Mountains and the Great Lakes region.
What does the Canadian lynx look like?
Canadian lynxes are medium-sized wildcats, smaller than their close relative, the Eurasian lynx. The lynx has a thick, dense coat of fur that provides insulation in cold environments. Its fur is usually grayish-brown. The fur helps the lynx blend in with its surroundings, especially in snowy habitats. During winter, their fur becomes thicker and longer.
It has a ruff of fur surrounding the face, which gives it a “bearded” appearance. One distinguishing feature is its tufted ears with black tips, which are often quite long. The Canadian lynx has a short, black-tipped tail. It is usually 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 cm) long and covered in thick fur. The lynx has long legs with large, wide-padded paws. The paws act as natural snowshoes, helping the lynx move swiftly and silently through the deep snow.
How much does a Canadian lynx weigh?
An adult Canadian lynx will typically weigh between 8-11kg. This makes them not much larger than a domesticated house cat. With a small stature, they stand at around 20 inches tall at the shoulder.
What does the Canadian lynx eat?
The primary food source for Canadian lynxes is the snowshoe hare (Lepus americanus). Snowshoe hares make up the majority of their diet, especially in areas where they are abundant. This prey species is well adapted to living in northern forests and is an important factor in the lynx’s population dynamics.
However, Canadian lynxes are opportunistic hunters and may also consume other small mammals, birds, and occasionally fish. Some of the additional prey species they may target include squirrels, mice, voles, grouse, and ptarmigan. They have been known to hunt larger prey such as young deer or caribou when the opportunity arises, although these instances are relatively rare.
How long do Canadian lynx live for?
The lifespan for both males and females in the wild are between 10-20 years.
How many Canadian lynx are left in the wild?
Lynx are among the most endangered felines in North America. The Canadian lynx tends to avoid humans where possible, we don’t know exactly how many cats are left in the wild. However, there are tens of thousands of lynx remaining across Alaska & Canada.
Why is the Canadian lynx endangered?
The Canadian lynx is listed as a species of “Least Concern” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, which means it is not currently considered at high risk of extinction.
That being said, the Canadian lynx does face certain conservation challenges and threats that could potentially impact its populations. These threats include:
- Loss and degradation of habitat from logging, urban development, and infrastructure expansion.
- Climate change affecting their snowy habitats and prey dynamics.
- Hunting for fur, including illegal trapping and poaching.
- Population fluctuations of their primary prey, the snowshoe hare.
Does the Canadian lynx have any predators?
The Canadian lynx does not have many natural predators. However, there are a few larger predators that may pose a threat to lynxes, especially to young or weakened individuals. These potential predators include:
- Wolves: Wolves are larger and more socially organized predators that may occasionally prey upon lynxes, particularly when they come across young or vulnerable individuals.
- Pumas: Pumas are another large carnivore that shares some overlapping habitat with lynxes. In rare instances, Pumas may come into conflict with lynxes, particularly when resources are limited.
- Bears: Bears, including black bears and grizzly bears, are known to scavenge on lynx kills but are not typically active predators of lynxes. However, they can occasionally compete for resources and affect lynx populations indirectly.
It’s important to note that while these predators may pose a risk to lynxes in certain circumstances, lynxes have evolved to be agile, elusive, and well-adapted to their environments, which helps them avoid predation.
How many types of lynx are there?
There are four types of Lynx: the Canadian lynx, the Bobcat, the Iberian lynx and the Eurasian lynx.
What is the natural habitat of the Canadian lynx?
The habitat of the Canadian lynx can vary depending on where they are found across Canada through to Alaska. They will predominantly be found in dense boreal forests which is a type of forest known for having deciduous trees and conifers and being home to animals that have adapted to withstand cold temperatures. This makes it the perfect environment for the Canadian lynx. The home range of the lynx will usually reflect that of the snowshoe hare.

A cheetah is a large, carnivorous mammal renowned for its exceptional speed and agility. Cheetahs can reach speeds up to 70 miles per hour (113 kilometers per hour), making them the fastest land animals. Cheetahs are carnivores, feeding mainly on small to medium-sized hoofed animals such as gazelles and impalas.
What family does the Cheetah belong to?
The cheetah is a member of the Puma lineage which falls under the Felidae family. It’s scientific name is Acinonyx jubatus
What does a Cheetah look like?
The cheetah has a very distinct look! They have a sleek, streamlined body built for speed. Their tan or yellowish coat is adorned with round, solid spots unique to each cheetah. They also have distinctive tear stripes running from their eyes to their mouth, which help reduce glare and improve their focus on prey.
How big is a Cheetah?
Cheetahs are medium-sized cats, with males weighing between 100 to 145 pounds (45 to 65 kilograms) and females weighing around 75 to 110 pounds (34 to 50 kilograms). They measure about 3.5 to 4.5 feet (1.1 to 1.4 meters) in length, excluding their tail.
What is a baby Cheetah called?
A baby cheetah is called a cub.
In what countries can you find a Cheetah?
Cheetahs are primarily found in various countries in sub-Saharan Africa. They inhabit a range of habitats such as grasslands, savannas, and semi-arid areas. Some of the countries where cheetahs can be found include Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Angola. Historically, cheetahs had a wider distribution that extended into parts of the Middle East and India, but their populations in those regions have significantly declined.
What does a Cheetah eat?
Cheetahs are carnivorous animals, meaning they primarily feed on meat. Their diet consists of small to medium-sized hoofed mammals. Some of the common prey species for cheetahs include gazelles, impalas, springboks, and other similar-sized antelopes. Cheetahs face competition from other predators, such as lions and hyenas, which may steal their kills. In some cases, cheetahs may also scavenge or feed on smaller prey like hares and birds when the opportunity arises.
How fast can a Cheetah run?
As the world’s fastest land animal the cheetah can reach speeds of up to 70 mph for short periods! If that isn’t amazing by itself, they can go from 0-60mph in 3 seconds.
Are there any animals faster than a Cheetah?
While cheetahs are known for being the fastest land animals, there are other animals that can outrun them in specific situations. Cheetahs are the fastest on land in terms of acceleration and short burst sprints.
What noise does a Cheetah make?
Cheetahs arent big cats so they cannot roar, instead they have a range of other vocalisations they use for communication. Chirping and Purring are often made in friendly interactions whereas growling and hissing are used when feeling threatened or agitated.
How long can a Cheetah live for?
The average lifespan of wild cheetahs is 8 to 10 years. In captivity, the average lifespan is 12 to 15 years.
What is a Cheetah’s habitat?
Cheetahs primarily inhabit various habitats in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in open grasslands, savannas, and semi-arid regions. These environments provide the cheetahs with the necessary characteristics for their hunting style and physical adaptations. The presence of tall grass or scattered bushes provides cover for stalking and ambush tactics.
Cheetah pregnant for?
Cheetahs have a gestation (pregnancy) period of between 90-95 days and litters range in size from 1-6 cubs. Cubs will often stay with their mother until they are 16-24 months old.
Does the Cheetah have any natural predators?
Although cheetahs are formidable hunters, they face threats from other predators in their vulnerable stages of life. Cheetahs, especially cubs, are occasionally targeted by lions, Hyenas and Leopards particularly in areas where their territories overlap. Lions may kill cheetahs to eliminate competition for resources whereas, leopards and hyenas may do so opportunistically.
Why are Cheetahs endangered?
Cheetahs are considered an endangered species due to various factors that have contributed to their declining population. Here are some key reasons why cheetahs are endangered:
- Habitat Loss: The conversion of natural habitats into agricultural land, human settlements, and infrastructure development has resulted in the loss of suitable habitats for cheetahs. This fragmentation disrupts their range and restricts their ability to find prey and establish territories.
- Decline in Prey Availability: Cheetahs rely on a healthy population of prey species, such as gazelles and antelopes, for their survival. Overhunting, competition with livestock, and habitat degradation have led to a decline in prey availability, making it harder for cheetahs to find sufficient food.
- Human-Wildlife Conflict: As cheetahs’ habitats overlap with human settlements and agricultural areas, conflicts arise due to livestock predation. Farmers sometimes kill cheetahs to protect their livestock, further endangering the species.
- Poaching and Illegal Wildlife Trade: Cheetahs are targeted by poachers for their skin, bones, and other body parts, which are traded illegally. The demand for cheetahs as exotic pets also contributes to their illegal trade, as capturing and keeping them in captivity is detrimental to their wild populations.
The cheetah population is believed to be around 9,000-12,000 in Africa which has led to them being classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
What is the difference between a Cheetah & a Leopard?
Cheetahs and leopards are often mistaken. It’s understandable as they both can be found in Africa! To help you spot a cheetah from a leopard you can look for these key differences:
- Cheetahs are taller than leopards and have leaner frames which makes them lighter.
- A cheetah’s fur is uniformly covered in dark spots whereas leopards have more irregularly placed rosettes.
- Cheetahs also have distinctive tear stripes running from their eyes to their mouth
